Meet our Founder James.
James has spent more than thirty years on job sites, long enough to know the difference between a renovation that looks good and a home that feels right in every detail.
He walks into a room and sees what it can become: where the light should fall, where a wall shouldn’t be, how people will move through the space and what it has been waiting for all along.
That instinct comes naturally. The skill to build what he sees has been earned through decades of experience.
James believes the best homes aren’t designed around trends. They are shaped around the people who live in them—the way they move, gather, work, rest and grow. That understanding guides everything he builds.
Most homeowners eventually discover the gap between what gets designed and what actually gets built. With James, the vision and the work remain connected.
As Founder and Principal Builder, he brings the eye of a designer and the experience of a builder to the same table—seeing not only what a space could become, but knowing what it will take to build it properly. He remains personally involved from the first idea to the final detail, ensuring nothing is lost along the way.
When the work is finished, clients tell us the same thing: it’s more than they pictured.

Construction Manager
Charles works alongside James on site, managing the day-to-day, coordinating the trades and keeping the work moving without losing sight of the details.
Calm, capable and easy to talk to, he never forgets that while it may be our job site, it is still your home. By learning James’s craft and standard from inside the work, Charles is also learning what it takes to carry Black Label forward.
